All Laser LASIK

At International EyeCare, we believe LASIK treatment in Houston should be accurate, safe and comfortable for our patients. We invest in leading-edge technology and incorporate advanced techniques that enhance the outcomes and patient experience of laser vision correction. An example of this is the all-laser Z-LASIK procedure, which is performed using the state-of-the-art Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser platform. Our Z-LASIK patients are amazed at the speed and precision of the revolutionary treatment.

Am I a Candidate for Z-LASIK?

The International EyeCare team evaluates all potential Z-LASIK candidates on an individual basis to determine whether the procedure is the right fit.

You might be a candidate for Z-LASIK if:

  • You are over 21
  • Your vision prescription is stable
  • You are in good general health
  • You are not pregnant or nursing (can cause changes to hormonal system and visual changes)
  • You do not have glaucoma, keratoconus, inflammation of the eye or another chronic vision disorder

An All-Laser LASIK Experience

Z-LASIK offers a completely blade-free, all-laser LASIK experience. Sophisticated lasers are used to perform the critical steps of the laser vision correction procedure.

Prior to treatment, our medical team uses wavefront technology to collect information about your unique visual imperfections and create a three-dimensional map of your eye’s structures. This diagnostic information is then used to calibrate the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q excimer laser that performs treatment.

To begin Z-LASIK, our surgeon uses a femtosecond laser to create a very thin flap in the outer cornea. The flap is gently folded back. Then, the surgeon uses the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q excimer laser to precisely sculpt the corneal tissue. The Eye-Q laser can emit 400 laser bursts per second, so it takes only a few seconds to make the necessary vision corrections. And, even though treatment is fast, the results are highly accurate and there is less risk of side effects.

As the Eye-Q laser works, a high-speed eye-tracker follows the eye’s positions (up to 400 times per second) to ensure the laser’s accurate delivery. An integrated crossline projector provides our surgeon with the exact alignment of the eye’s position. The Wavefront optimized technology automatically compensates for the unique curvature and biomechanics of your cornea.

After the surgeon has sculpted the cornea into the optimal shape, he restores the flap to its original position over the eye. The flap heals naturally.

More about the Allegretto Wave Eye-Q Laser

The Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser’s success is apparent in its results. Clinical studies showed that more than 93 percent of Eye-Q patients see as well or better than they did with glasses or contacts. More than 98 percent of patients enjoy 20/40 vision one year after treatment with the Eye-Q laser. Nearly 60 percent of patients with nearsightedness achieved 20/16 vision one year after treatment. Nearsighted and farsighted patients experienced an improvement in vision around bright lights and night driving glare; nearsighted patients also noted an improvement in sensitivity to light. Nine out of 10 Eye-Q patients achieve refraction within 1 diopter of their target correction.
